Tailoring the Learning Environment: Generation Z

By addressing the needs of Generation Z students in the classroom, we are able to tailor the learning environment to the generation. The ineffectiveness of the traditional teaching pedagogy shows the need to adapt the classroom. As a classroom assistant in a service-learning class, I was able to see how communication in the classroom plus reflection creates community, and awareness of community. By proposing a dynamic learning environment such as one with service-learning, one is able to shape the way the classroom interacts and engages with its students to address their changing learning style. We need to ask the question of how can we engage students in an adapting and changing world.

The biogeochemical cycling of trace metals in the ocean, as the name implies, is a cycle that describes the complex interplay of a broad range of physical and chemical processes that govern the behavior of metals in the ocean. Input of trace metals into surface ocean water can come from any of several sources including anthropogenic input from the continental surface, airbound particles, or upwelling from the deep ocean, among others. Metal concentrations for yttrium and lanthanum were obtained from surface Pacific Ocean water and the data sets were interpreted to evaluate the behavior of each of the two metals in the context of this cycling.

The scope of this research is to understand the dynamic relationship between the Classic Maya of Palenque and water. The research presents geographical features, climate, techniques, and technology used to harness water. Furthermore, the activities of the Classic Maya of Palenque (A.D. 250-900) involving water will be presented and elaborated as dynamic casual processes revealing and reconstructing cultural aspects. The Humboldt Botanical Garden, located in southern Eureka, is where the Lost Coast Brewery Native Plant Garden thrives. Our project for The Humboldt Botanical Garden will focus on the described main role of botanical gardens. Given The Humboldt Botanical Garden is focusing on exhibiting endemic species to the Northern California region, we would like to emphasize its role as a place for understanding plants and recognizing the species diversity in the region. One of the ways to make it possible is to expand access to the botanical garden. Through making a trail map that displays whole paths in the garden, people will gain another way to navigate the garden.
The Effects of C-Tactile Afferent Stimulation on Orgasm

This study aims to test the possible effects of naturally-released oxytocin on aspects of the male orgasm. In two trials, the participants utilize an FDA-approved clinical vibration device to induce orgasm in the absence of any audiovisual stimuli. During one of these trials, the participant is brushed on the forearm to release endogenous oxytocin (via C-tactile afferent activation), at the other they are tapped on the hand with the end of the brush to act as a placebo. Given the role of oxytocin in hedonic (pleasure) responses, it is predicted that oxytocin will significantly increase subjective orgasm intensity and ejaculate volume and decrease ejaculation latency.
Effects of a Race Timer on the 3 Minute All Out Test for Critical Power

The 3 Minute all-out Test (3MT) provides a lens with which to gain insight on an individual's performance capabilities by measuring both anaerobic capacity and maximal aerobic capacity in one short test. The 3MT measures maximal performance based on the assumption that the subject is giving the test maximal effort. However due to the design of the 3MT, test participants may not be able to accurately gauge their perceived exertion, which could potentially affect performance outcomes during testing. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of introducing a race timer to the 3MT on performance outcomes in healthy active males, and also carries the potential to refine the 3MT.

Through focusing specifically on the relevance of spatial organization of territory and women’s rights concerning reproduction, a case that can exemplify the age-old struggle of the belief of the majority governing the private lives of all would be the Texas case of Roe v. Wade. The political and geographic results of this monumental court decision centered around abortion may be seen in the torrent of other similar cases that deal with women’s rights in relation to reproductive care across the U.S When more scrutiny is applied to this singularly defining case, it becomes more than a few fast facts. "Obscured Misogyny:" A Feminist Rhetorical Critique of the Disney Princess

Disney Princess movies are beloved by many, and, on the surface of the most recent renditions of the trope, the lead female characters portray many pro-feminist messages. However, there is a discrepancy between the surface meanings and the implied meanings of the movies. Hidden beneath these pro-feminist surface meanings, the implied meanings present a vastly different message - one contrary to the beliefs of feminism. Through this discrepancy between the surface and implied meanings of Disney Princess movies, this poster aims to illustrate the anti-feminist rhetoric of Disney Princess movies.

The proposal for the study is to restore ecosystems near fish farms. Surrounded ecosystems have shown to be harmed by heavy pollutant (lead, mercury, and arsenic). In the long run the research team plans to stop more input of heavy metals into the water with the help of the Philippines community. The outcome for the project is to educate, care for the health of the community, and have cleaner and drinkable water.
Stage Management for The Life of Galileo

In the Fall 2023 semester, I worked as the stage manager for our show of "The Life of Galileo" by Bertolt Brecht. Being a stage manager requires a lot of organization, attention to detail, communication, collaboration, and paperwork. You are there from the beginning with auditions and concept meetings to the end with strike (clearing the stage of the show). During this process, you are a main point of contact between departments and once the show opens, you are the one leading the shows to ensure they happen the way they are intended to. This show was my first time stage managing. It is a very difficult role to step into, but I had lots of fun and wanted to share my work and learning.
